What the Government has done for Joho after being sworn-in
Barely days after Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho was sworn-in, the government has made changes...
OCPD Lucas Ogara confirmed that Joho’s security was now intact with sources indicating that it had been scaled up to comprise of GSU and administration police.
“Joho is entitled to them. Elected leaders enjoy police protection based on provisions,” Ogara stated.
Prior to the Elections, the State had withdrawn Joho’s security detail under unclear circumstances.
The Governor would later reject officers who were reinstated by the Government alleging a plot by the new security to plant drugs and firearms in his residence.
However, State House Spokesperson Manoah Esipisu, refuted Joho’s claims and affirmed that there was no political motive.
“My understanding is that the regional command structures in Mombasa and Kilifi are reorganizing themselves and I think it would be up to them to respond to any issues around that. The important thing to say is that there is no political motive in operational matters within the police service”, Esipisu stated.
Joho, has been a fierce critic of the Jubilee administration and clashed severally with President Uhuru Kenyatta.
This prompted the Head of State to warn him of consequences if he continued interfering with his projects.
"He should not play with us or else we will teach him a lesson," Kenyatta warned.
