Governor to challenge defeat in court

The latest IEBC results show the incumbent governor is headed for a humiliating defeat.

According to the latest results from the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), Jubilee Party’s Murungi has garnered 271, 874 votes so far (52 per cent) while PNU’s Munya has 222, 981 representing 42 per cent of the votes counted.

President Uhuru Kenyatta’s former presidential adviser, Dr Kilemi Mwiria of the Maendeleo Chap Chap Party is third with 16, 751 votes.

Governor Munya said the results are computer generated and he will challenge them in court.

However, Mwiria earlier in the day conceded defeat as the results showed him trailing Murungi and Munya by a huge magin.

According to the latest IEBC tally, a total of 1418 out of 1473 polling stations have released their results with the county recording a 75.9 per cent voter turnout.
