Sauti Sol's stylist reveals the worst thing that Kenyan women wear

The somewhat shy and soft spoken stylist extraordinaire has styled numerous celebrities such as Janet Mbugua, Amina Abdi, Atemi, Talia Oyando, Adelle Onyango, to mention but a few, and worked with loads of fashion enthusiasts. His breakthrough came when he was picked as one of the stylists for Coke Studio Season 3. Babu sat with Janet Mbugua for her '10 Questions with' segment on her YouTube channel which is growing by the day.

The soon-to-be mother of two asked Babu ten fun questions on all things style, to which he was happy to answer. He revealed that to him, style is how you put clothes together to create a persona, adding that his love for clothes and fashion is not recent - it stemed from watching his mother make clothes for the likes of Catherine Kasavuli, back in the day. When asked what he would wear if he were invited to a dinner by the Obamas when they land in the country, Babu was certain that he would go for a long flowy Kimono, styled with black pants and a white shirt. Quite trendy if you ask me, just like his style icons, Karl Lagerfield and Andre Leon Tally.

One of the questions that carried the day was when he was asked what his pet peeve is. This is a broad question but trust Babu to take the fashion angle, after all, he's a stylist, right?

"You know when these chics go out to the club and then they wear the short dresses. Zile zimeanza kuchelewa then zinaisha mapema. You know those dresses? They're sort of like strapless, then they're super short so the ladies keep walking while yanking the dress up? I feel like that's the most annoying thing ever"

Babu told Janet, who then asked if it was the style of the dress or the fact that they keep yanking it. Babu said:

"If you're out to sell them goods honey, sell it, sell it. If you're not about that life, don't wear it. Just don't "

I actually agree with him. I feel like those tiny short dresses that some Kenyan women wear on nights out are so 2012. When wearing short clothes you should always follow the 60-40 rule. If the top is open, cover the bottom. If your bottom is open, cover the top, to create a nice balance so that you don't end up looking like you're looking for attention.

The stylist, who keeps calm by listening to music by the likes of Lauryn Hill and Richard Bona also hinted that there could be a collection in the works. As for his parting shot, Babu advised people to find what makes them happy!
