Gone are the days of walking to NHIF offices; now, you can access your account details through various digital platforms such as online websites, SMS, USSD, and the NHIF App.

  1. Download the My NHIF self-care App from the Google Play Store or Apple Store.
  2. Open the app and tap on "Other Services."
  3. Enter your ID number and request a one-time PIN (OTP) to be sent to your phone number.
  4. Enter the OTP to log in and select "Payment & Status" to view your NHIF status, whether active or inactive.

  1. Visit the official NHIF online portal at www.nhif.or.ke.
  2. Sign up to access the self-service portal or log in if you already have an account.
  3. Proceed to check your NHIF contribution status, where you can view your recent contributions, default months, and activation status.
  4. Once done, remember to log out for security purposes.

  1. Open the messaging application on your mobile phone.
  2. Compose a new SMS with the message format: ID [space] Your ID number or passport number (e.g., ID 47474747).
  3. Send the message to 21101.
  4. You will receive a response with information about your NHIF account status shortly. Note that this service may incur a Ksh.10 airtime service charge.

Alternatively, you can dial the NHIF USSD code *155# from any network and follow the prompts to check your status or register with NHIF. This service is free of charge and does not require credit.
