One person died on the spot after a trailer rammed into several vehicles along the Eldoret-Nakuru highway.

The accident which happened at Sachangwan involved two trucks, a Probox car and a 14- seater matatu.

Molo Division Traffic Officer Moses Nderitu stated that the truck lost control before ramming into another vehicle, leaving the driver dead and one other person seriously injured.

“One of the truck drivers sustained serious injuries and was taken to Molo Sub County Hospital for treatment,” said Mr Nderitu.

The accident caused a heavy traffic jam along the busy highway with police moving in to help starnded motorists.

The Friday evening accident happened just a few hours after 13 people perished in a grisly road accident along Kisumu–Kericho Highway at Awasi, Kisumu County.

Reports indicate that the accident occurred after an Eldoret express bus collided head on with a trailer at Awasi. The bus was headed to Nairobi.

Those injured injured in the accident were rushed to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital and Hope Medical Hospital. Bodies of the deceased have been moved to Ahero Hospital Mortuary.
