Aisha Jumwa grabbed a gun from bodyguard & shot my brother – witness claims
ODM candidate's father gives his side of the dramatic incident
Ngumbao Jola died on Tuesday night after he was shot in the chest during a confrontation at his nephew Reuben’s house.
The ODM candidate’s father told the press that he was present during the confrontation and claims that Jumwa stormed their home, demanding to be directed to Reuben (the ODM candidate).
Mzee Jola claimed that after identifying Reuben, the MP angrily snatched a pistol from his bodyguard and aimed at shooting his son, only for the bullet to hit his brother Ngumbao.
“We were having a meeting and Aisha Jumwa stormed in, asking police why they were not completing the task she had given them. Chaos erupted and Aisha demanded to be show who Reuben was and once she identified him, she snatched a pistol from one of her bodyguards and fired in his direction. The bullet hit Ngumbao,” Mzee Jola claimed.
Ngumbao died shortly after upon arrival at Malindi Hospital.
On Wednesday morning, at around 1 am, police arrested Jumwa and her aide Geoffrey Okuto Otieno as suspects in the murder.
Late Wednesday, the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) indicated that they planned to charge Okuto with murder while Jumwa would face charges of inciting violence.
The state, however, sought the court’s permission to hold the two for three more weeks to complete investigations into the incident.
The court is expected to make a determination on the request today (Thursday).
