The Building Bridges Initiative task-force, formed by President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga over a year ago, on Wednesday issued a final statement on their much-awaited report.

In a statement to newsrooms, the BBI team has confirmed that the report is ready.

The task-force is chaired by Garissa Senator Yusuf Haji and has been making trips around the country to collect views from Kenyans on what would be helpful in bringing unity in the country.

The task-force further conveyed that the handshake partners had been made aware that the report is ready, though no date had been set for the official hand-over.

"The joint secretaries have officially communicated to the Office of the President that the Building Bridges Initiative report is ready for handing over to H.E. the President. They have received word that the event will be scheduled at the first available opportunity," the statement explained.

President Kenyatta is currently in Russia for an official visit where he is attending the first ever Russia-Africa summit with 42 other African Heads of State and Government.
