Elite officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations have recovered millions in the Ksh 72 Million ATM heist saga and arrested two police officers who were found in possession of the cash.

Among those arrested is Constable Chris Ayienda Machogu who was foun with Ksh4 million.

Police also arrested Constable Vincent Owuor of the Administration Police and recovered Ksh3 million recovered at his house in Kendu Bay.

DCI revealed that the duo were planning to escape into Uganda with their loot.

"Detectives investigating the matter have established-& the suspect confirmed that the Subaru Forester was bought on the same day of the Heist using the stolen Money. The two suspects were planning to travel to Uganda with the Cash. They are in our custody awaiting arraignment," DCI posted on twitter.

A motor vehicle that the duo reportedly bought on Thursday shortly after the heist happened was also recovered.

It is believed that the duo, working with other accomplices successfully staged the heist with plans to sublime into neighbouring Uganda with their loot.
