DCI on the spot as Murgor blames him for leaking arrest of uhuru’s cousin

Nairobi socialite from the President's family is being interrogated on Cohen's murder

DCI on the spot as Philip Murgor blames him for leaking arrest of uhuru’s cousin in Tob Cohen's murder case

The Director of Public Prosecutions has come on the spot after city lawyer Philp Murgor accused him of leaking information about the arrest of one President Uhuru Kenyatta’s cousins.

The DCI was reported by a local daily of arresting and interrogating a prominent Nairobi socialite and beautician with regard to the murder of Dutch tycoon Philip Murgor.

Murgor told the court that the journalist who wrote the story informed him that the leak had come from the DCI George Kinoti – further asking the judge to hold Kinoti in contempt of court.

There’s a publication that a second cousin of President Uhuru Kenyatta has been arrested. I called the journalists and he said he was given the information by the DCI,” Philip Murgor said on Tuesday.

The arrested suspect was reported to be a close friend of Sarah Wairimu, one of the suspects in the case.

The state, through SADPP Catherine Mwaniki on Tuesday promised to investigate the leak regarding the arrest of the President’s relative.

Parties in the case have in the past been barred from commenting on any information relating to the case that has not been canvassed in court.

After the orders, the defense and the state have engaged in counter arguments alleging contempt of court through disobedience of the gag orders issued by the court.
