Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu is facing a drastic change to his salary after he moved to court to challenge orders issued by Chief Magistrate Lawrence Mugambi.

Governor Waititu was in court on Monday seeking to have the order barring him from his Kiambu office overturned.

Through his lawyer Tom Ojienda, the Governor argued that the order may be enforced for longer than necessary given that they is no telling how long the suit may remain in court before the final ruling.

Bail terms were exaggerated - Lawyer Tom Ojienda

Lawyer Ojienda reiterated earlier claims that Chief Magistrate Mugambi imposed bail and bond terms that were too exaggerated.

"There is fragrant abuse of discretion by the lower court. It is no longer clear what guides courts in granting bond or the option of cash bail," he stated.

The lawyer further accused the court of acting as the electorate and abruptly ending his term in office through the court order.
