Prof Kiama to continue as UoN VC

Magoha had been sued at the Labour Court seeking to quash Prof Gitahi's attempt in what became an embarrassing circus between the two professors.
Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha triggered the legal battle after he cancelled the UoN don's appointment and dissolved the university's council - claiming he had done so at the instruction of President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Magoha then appointed Deputy VC (finance, planning and development) Isaac Meroka Mbeche as acting VC.
In a bold show of defiance, Prof Gitahi sent out a press statement indicating that he was still in charge and warned stakeholders against entering with any deal with any other purported VC.
The UoN VC proceeded to send Prof Mbeche on leave and later moved to the Labour Court where he wanted the court to clarify on whether the Education had any powers to revoke the appointment of a substantive VC.
The matter has now been settled out of court after the VC, also a former UoN VC - agreed to revoke the letter that purported to revoke Prof Kiama's appointment.
