Police officers impounded a vehicle that was ferrying the weapons which included machetes and rungus (clubs). Ballot papers bearing the name of Kuria and two other aspirants were found in the car.
Three men were arrested during the interception and police have launched an investigation following the discovery.
Speculations are rife that the weapons could be linked to the Gatundu South MP while others indicated that he (Kuria) could have been framed by his rivals.
Gatundu OCPD met with the three aspirants in the Constituency following the incident.
Former Gatundu South MP Moses Mwihia told journalists that "residents became suspicious of the convoy since the occupants of the cars were unruly".
