Speaking during the Ukambani leader's declaration on Tuesday, Ngilu alleged that ODM leader Raila Odinga was beaten by president Uhuru Kenyatta in 2013 because she campaigned for Jubilee in Ukambani region.Ngilu, who is eyeing the Kitui gubernatorial seat, apologised to the Ukambani people for what she termed as a "costly mistake".

The former CS also said that she would back Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka in the upcoming polls adding that she had lost each time she opposed the former Vice president. "I opposed him in 2007 and lost and again in 2013. This is not going to happen again,” She affirmed.Other Ukambani leaders, led by Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana endorsed Kalonzo to be the National Super Alliance (NASA) flagbearer."Ask us to even go and talk to the other Co-principals so we can tell them this because you are the one to save Kenya," Mr Kibwana was quoted.

The Wiper party recently hinted that Kalonzo could bolt out of NASA if he was not selected the flagbearer. The former Vice president’s team wants ODM leader Raila Odinga to adhere to an agreement they signed in 2013 where he was to be a one term president and back kalonzo in 2017. Meanwhile, Odinga recently disclosed that they would name NASA's presidential candidate sooner rather than later. The former prime minister alleged that delaying to name the flag bearer was part of their strategy to send the Jubilee administration in the upcoming polls.
