Barely four days to the Jubilee nominations slated for Friday, Senator Mike Sonko s quest to become the next Nairobi Governor has been dealt a major blow after president Uhuru Kenyatta seemingly endorsed his fierce rival, Peter Kenneth.

Speaking at the burial of former Gatanga MP David Murathe's father, Kenyatta urged Murang'a residents to pray for Kenneth to ensure he clinches the Jubilee ticket for Nairobi's gubernatorial seat."I am calling on you Kirwara residents to pray for your son so that he can win the Jubilee ticket in Nairobi," the Head of State said. The announcement comes barely a month after the president stated that he did not have a favorite between Kenneth and Sonko, which now seems no to be the case.Kenyatta invited the former Gatanga MP to speak to the residents. Kenneth vowed to fight and promised to usurp incumbent Evans Kidero if he clinches the ticket."I will fight to get the ticket and seat in Nairobi so that when I come to visit you I will be Nairobi governor, but I urge you all to vote for the President in the general elections to prove your love for your President," Kenneth said.Senator Mike Sonko had threatened to leave the party if he believed the nominations were not free and fair.

“He has instead told me to fight to the end so I am firmly in the race,” the senator stated.
