Wiper party leadership led by Francis Nyenze now says that there was a ploy to shortchange the Kamba community. Kalonzo will be deputising Raila Odinga in the August polls.
Making reference to the 2013 Memorandum of Association, Nyenze has argued that the Kamba community is likely not to trade in the Kalonzo being the running mate to Raila Odinga.
“It came as a shocker to us that Kalonzo agreed to be a running mate and not the flag bearer,” Nyenze has said.
He added: “It’s a tall order to convince the Kamba people to vote for someone else and not Kalonzo Musyoka.”

Nyenze has maintained that the earlier plans were clear that Kalonzo was to be the flag bearer, and that the latest turn around has been a shocker to the party.
He has added that the party doesn't recognise any union inside the Musalia-Odinga-Wetangula merger.
Yesterday during the event that saw the naming of the flagbearer at Uhuru Park, Wiper party’s top brass was missing in the action.
The delay in the naming of the flagbearer also prompted questions on whether the party had agreed on the way forward.
