DCI officers attached to the elite Flying Squad have on Monday evening re-arrested billionaire Humphrey Kariuki, just minutes after he was freed on a Sh11m cash bail.

Kariuki was on Monday charged with Sh17 billion tax evasion, after weeks of being pursued by the DCI.

He is said to have flown into Kenya in the morning before presenting himself at Milimani Law Courts alongside his lawyers.

The tycoon's lawyer, Kioko Kilukumi, successfully convinced the court to release his client on a Sh11 million cash bail which was delivered to the authorities on Monday afternoon.
