Four die in Sunday morning horror road crash

Four people died on the spot after the vehicles they were travelling in got involved in a road accident.

The accident occurred along the Mombasa-Nairobi highway on Sunday morning when the two salon cars collided head-on.

Reports indicate that one of the cars that was heading to Nairobi attempted to overtake a fleet of vehicles before colliding head-on with a salon car heading in the opposite direction at Sultan-Hamud Town.

Makueni County Police Commander Joseph Ole Naipeiyan confirmed the incident, stating that two people died on the spot while two others succumbed to the injuries while undergoing treatment at a facility where they were rushed.

“A driver pulled off his lane and tried to overtake a fleet of other motor vehicles. Unfortunately, the two vehicles collided and as a result, two people, a driver and his passenger died on the spot,” Naipeiyan stated.

It was not immediately clear if there were any survivors.

The bodies of the deceased were moved to Kilome Nursing Home while the angled wreck of the two vehicles were towd to Sultan-Hamud Police Station.

Investigations have been launched to establish the cause of the accident.
