Mike Sonko launches number to report Governors, MPs and Senators who are dead-beat dads

Nairobi governor Mike Sonko has launched a number through which women can report MPs, Governors and Senators who refuse to provide for children they sire and disappear into the thin air (popularly called dead-beat dads).

Taking to Facebook, Sonko provided a phone number through which women can report the dead-beat dads, vowing to expose all of them and compel them to undergo DNA tests before their death.

In an explosive post, Sonko revealed that male MCAs, Mps, Senators, Governors etc have a habit of having multiple sexual partners and extramarital affairs that sometimes result in babies only for the fathers to disappear, leaving behind single mothers and ‘fatherless’ children.

The number can also be used to report businessmen and civil servants who fail to accept responsibility and provide for their children.

In his post, Sonko gave the numbers 0722886600/0739555555, promising to expose the dead beat dads and compel them to DNA testing.

Sonko's remarks and Ken Okoth's family drama

His initiative comes hot in the heels of the drama that was witnessed before the cremation of Kibra MP Ken Okoth.

Shortly after Okoth’s death, nominated MCA Anne Muthoni Thumbi emerged with a child named Jayden Okoth who she claimed is a son to the late MP.

Sonko laid bare details of the love affair between the late Kibra MP Ken Okoth and Nairobi Member of County Assembly Anne Muthoni Thumbi, who moved to court to stop the deceased legislator’s funeral.

As news of Ken’s affair with Thumbi and their son circulated on Tuesday, Ken’s mother came out and urged the public not to believe reports that the MP had a son.

“Ken did not sire any child. I know many women will come out to claim they have at least a child with Ken,” Angelina stated.

However, yesterday the family appeared to have a change of heart and admitted to nowing about Ken’s relationship with Ms. Thumbi as well as baby Jayden who they acknowledged as Ken’s son.

"What I can say in broad daylight, as a family we knew about Ken’s son. And anybody in the family who might say that Ken didn’t have a son is lying.

“He is our own and he is our blood and we fully support her (Ms Thumbi) for coming out and saying that this is Ken’s child” Okoth’s nephew identified as Evans Oluoch told Citizen TV.

“The family is very sure including Monica. Monica knew about this child. So taking DNA was just a waste of time because if you look at the photo of the boy and Ken, this just copyright (sic). Ken was in full support of his child. And this is the only child Ken left us to remember him with," he stated.

"I would like to take this opportunity to apologize to the country for what happened concerning Ken's son because ken’s mum was in confusion, and she is very sorry for what happened”. He added.
