KURA alerts motorists on 4 days when parts of Thika Superhighway will remain closed

The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (Kura) has issued an alert to motorists using the Thika Superhighway in the next two weekends.

Parts of the busy highway will be closed off on September 14 and 15 as well as September 21 and 22.

"KURA wishes to inform members of the public that the city bound expressway of Thika Superhighway at Allsopps (Outer Ring Road Junction) will be closed on Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th September 2019 in order to install beams on the ongoing construction of Outer Ring overpass," the notice read in part.

Motorists have been advised to use service lanes when heading into Nairobi CBD and to follow directions from the traffic marshals.

Use alternative routes

The notice from acting Director General Silas Kinoti further announced that the outbound expressway will also be closed on Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd September, 2019.

"It is advisable for motorists to use alternative routes to reduce congesting the service lanes. The closure will commence from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m," the notice read in part.
