CJ Maraga's new directive that could affect Kidero's corruption case

Kidero is currently appearing in court over graft accusations.

Chief Justice David Maraga on Thursday made new request to all judges handling corruption cases, a move that could see former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero and dozens of others affected.

Speaking during the Annual Law Society of Kenya (LSK) Conference at Leisure Lodge Beach Resort in Diani, Kwale County Mr Maraga said that requests for adjournments in graft cases would only be granted in special circumstances.

The new move, he said, would facilitate a speedy completion of graft related cases which have flooded Anticorruption division in Nairobi.

"We cannot have corruption cases go on for years; read the public mood," he said on Thursday during the Annual Law Society of Kenya (LSK) Conference at Leisure Lodge Beach Resort in Diani, Kwale County.
