The Director of Public Prosecution Noordin Haji has released a list of senior government officials whom he said his office had gathered enough evidence to arrest and prosecute in relation to the irregular purchase of maize at the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB).
The DPP on Thursday morning said investigations commissioned by the Ethics Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) established that the NCPB spent over Sh11 billion exceeding the Sh6 billion budgeted for in the 2017/2018 financial year, which was in contravention to the law.

"The investigations revealed that the NCPB officials, Agricultural officers, Chiefs and Assistant Chiefs colluded with traders to facilitate fraudulent payments to the detriment of vetted farmers," the DPP added.

3. Cornel Kiprotich Ng'elechey - General Manager, Finance NCPB (arrested)
According to DPP Haji, the suspects will be charged with willful failure to comply with law relating to management of public property, unauthorised spending of public funds, conspiracy to defraud, abuse of office, neglect of official duty as well as fraudulent acquisition of public funds.
