Nairobians fall victim to Sonko Rescue Team con

Mike Sonko warns Kenyans.

Mike Sonko stated, "I wish to take this opportunity to warn Kenyans to watch out & never to send any money to these conmen. In any case you are approached, please report to police or to my office for action. My official FB page, Mike Sonko. is verified & has over 1,300,000 followers."

The group, Sonko Rescue Team Kenya, was impersonating the former senator's work force Sonko Rescue Team on Facebook.

Sonko went ahead to ask Safaricom to disable the phone number the group was using to defraud Kenyans.

"Safaricom should take action and disable this number (0715721394) to save Kenyans from being conned by these fraudsters," he added.

The telecommunications giant responded to the request, stating that the phone number had been reported to the company's fraud team for investigation and further action.
