A few hours to his planned swearing in, National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga has come under intense pressure to call off his plans.
Commenting on Odinga’s swearing in that is scheduled for 12 December 2017, Devolution Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri has called for Odinga to be put under house arrest if he proceeds with his plans.
This comes as pressure piles on the NASA leader with envoys urging him to shelve his plans and engage in dialogue.
Talks held yesterday between NASA leadership and the U.S envoy Robert Godec failed to change Odinga’s mind. The talks were also attended by the clergy and Bitish High Commissioner to Kenya Nic Hailey.
Early this week, Attorney General (AG) Githu Muigai declared the scheduled swearing in illegal, terming it high treason punishable by death.
Police spokesperson Charles Owinoconfirmed that they were ready to arrest Odinga and anyone participating in activities that violate the constitution as advised by the AG.
