Standard Group boss resigns

The media house has appointed Orlando Lyomu as the acting CEO.

Mr Sam Shollei has resigned as The Standard Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Shollei has been at the helm of one of the biggest media house in the country for the last five years.

The Standard Group (SG) Board Chairman Robin Sewell has announced that they have appointed Orlando Lyomu as the acting boss for the time being pending the appointment of a substantive CEO.

Until this appointment, Mr. Orlando Lyomu was serving as Group Finance Director & Chief Operating Officer, a position he held since 2012.

“The board would like to thank Mr Shollei for his great efforts as group CEO since September 20, 2012, when he joined the Standard Group Plc and guided the group through some very challenging times and putting the business into its current strong position,” Mr Sewell said in a statement.

Mr Sewell acknowledged the former CEO’s achievements, adding: “We wish Mr Shollei every success in his future endeavours and express our full confidence that Mr Lyomu will provide the necessary guidance and stability for the group pending the appointment of a substantive chief executive.”
