ODM addresses 2022 aspirants claiming to have Nomination Certificates

We are undoubtedly in the electioneering season

ODM party Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party's National Elections Board (NEB) has issued a statement even as aspirants claim that they have been awarded nomination certificates.

According to NEB Chair Catherine Muyeka, the aspirants purporting to have been confirmed as the party's 2022 candidates for various elective offices are misinformed.

Muyeka clarified that the party is yet to conduct party primaries ahead of the 2022 General Election.

"We have received a number of complaints from party members from different counties on different allegations where a few Party members, Party officials and others in some counties have been heard purporting to have secured the ODM tickets for different seats for the 2022 elections," she stated.

The party official went on to indicate that some of the aspirants have posted similar misleading information online.

"Our attention has also been drawn to some social media posts and clips where some of these members and officials are seen and heard purporting to have already secured nomination certificates or to have powers to issue party tickets for the 2022 General Election," the statement outlined.

The party went on to issue a warning to those involved, encouraging party members to report any suspicious claims.

"We wish to send a stern warning to any member, outgoing and incoming party official to desist from making false utterances on the party primaries nomination process. We wish to particularly warn the party officials from any attempts to use their positions for personal benefit in a bid to influence, intimidate and cajole opponents and would be aspirants as this amounts to abuse of office," the statement further read.

Aspirants have been advised to be on the look-out for a Party Primaries schedule which will be made public in due time.
