Mutahi Ngunyi makes prediction on Kibra by-election

Prophet of Kenyan politics speaks

Political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi predicts McDonald Mariga winning Kibra by-election

Renowned political analyst Prof Mutahi Ngunyi on Friday afternoon predicted the election of ex-footballer McDonald Mariga in the upcoming Kibra by-election.

Ngunyi did not explain his prediction but warned that it was based on a hunch.

I have this #FridayFeeling that MARIGA will take the KIBRA seat. But being a FRIDAY, I am SUSPICIOUS of my GUT. What do you THINK?” the political analyst said.

Ngunyi is famed for his analysis of Kenyan politics – particularly the “tyranny of numbers” theory that accurately predicted the results of the 2013 presidential election, earning him the title "prophet" of Kenyan politics

His prediction came two days after President Uhuru Kenyatta endorsed Mariga during a surprise meeting at State House Nairobi.

The Jubilee candidate has been perceived as a protégé for Deputy President William Ruto who is keen to use the Kibra contest to boost his 2022 presidential campaign.

ODM has fronted Imran Okoth, a brother to the late Kibra MP Ken Okoth. The orange party is the only one to have carried out nominations before picking their flag bearer.

Other perceived front runners in the Kibra race include Odinga’s former campaign chairman Eliud Owalo, who is vying on an ANC party ticket.

Ford Kenya is also contesting with Engineer Khamisi Butichi.
