The family of the late Rongo University student Sharon Otieno is living in fear following an attempted kidnap on her uncle.
Last week, unknown people ambushed the younger Otieno, threatened him, and even attempted to kidnap him in Nairobi’s Kangundo Road area.
The younger brother to Sharon’s father was walking home from work. He later recorded the incident at Mawe Mbili Police Station.
According to Sharon’s uncle, five people who had concealed their faces, tried forcing him into a waiting car but fled after he raised the alarm.
Sharon’s father, Douglas Otieno, told the Nation that the thugs had also threatened his brother.
“The thugs told him to be careful; that he will know this is Kenya; and that they are more Kenyan than him. Utajua hii ni Kenya na sisi ni Wakenya zaidi yako … they said in Kiswahili,” Douglas said of the attackers who were said to have been armed with pangas and axes.
Meanwhile, Migori Governor Okoth Obado is on Monday expected to be arraigned in court where he will face charges of Sharon's murder.
