Deputy President William Ruto has delved into the raging debate on his possible impeachment fronted by Siaya Senator James Orengo who hinted at initiating proceedings to impeach DP Ruto.

Orengo’s declarations supported threats by a team of Jubilee MPs under the movement identifying itself as #TeamKenya led by Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu veteran politician Maina Kamanda and Kathiani MP Robert Mbui who threatened that they may soon explore Article 150 on the 'Removal of Deputy President'.

In the first public response to the threats of impeachment, Ruto trashed the threats and expressed confidence that he will be in office up to the expiry of his term as DP in 2022.

“They are disturbed that Ruto is here and there. Let me ask, do we have two deputy presidents in Kenya?” the DP wondered.

Ruto  who was addressing the public yesterday (Friday) in Vihiga faulted unnamed politicians presumably from the rival opposition coalition NASA and Jubilee for harboring selfish political interests at the expense of public interest.

“What we don’t want is politics of people masterminding things for their own selfish interests,” Ruto declared.

He exuded confidence of emerging victorious in the 2022 presidential elections contest, stating that he is ready to face off with his political detractors at the ballot.

Earlier in the day during a prayer mass of Paul Njoroge's family at St Michael's Catholic Church in Nakuru, the Deputy President had made it clear that his will not be distracted by cheap politics in his quest to serve Kenyans.

He also maintained that under the leadership of President Uhuru Kenyatta, the Jubilee government was keen on delivering its promises to Kenyans.

"We are known for development plans, we don't engage in meaningless politics. We agreed that we shall move ahead under the leadership of Uhuru Kenyatta where shall unite Kenyans and drive development," he stated. Ruto has in the recent past come under heavy criticism from the #Team Kenya wing of Jubilee who are appear opposed to his 2022 bbid and use every possible opportunity to bash him.

“The coming together of President Kenyatta, Raila,Kalonzo and Mudavadi has exposed the thief and now we are all shaming the thief publicly and that’s why you hear the thief saying that he is being targeted unfairly. Who mentioned you (the thief)” Kamanda declared last weekend. The MPs alleged that previously there was confusion in identifying the corrupt who were looting billions from the public but this is no longer the case. According to Wambugu the thief is known to everyone following the handshake deal between President Kenyatta, Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka and Musalia Mudavadi. "This war against corruption will not stop! It will be messy and untidy... but it will be done. Period. #Kitaeleweka," Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri asserted.
