Alfred Mutua surrenders crucial documents to EACC

Governor Mutua making moves.

Dr Mutua handed over crucial bank account details, records of his property and those of his relatives to a host of Ethics and Anti-Corruption officials on Monday, urging other political leaders to do so, just a few days after he lost a case challenging his re-election.

“No honest leader should be afraid of a lifestyle audit in the fight against corruption. Public money has to be protected.

“On my end, I freely gave the EACC details of my accounts, properties, relatives etc for an audit. I hope other leaders will do the same. We must rescue Kenya,” the governor announced on Twitter.”

He added: “I organized my documents & those of my staff & after booking an appointment, took the information to EACC on November 16, 2015. Transparency is key. We have to stop theft of public resources, identify & reveal mega thieves. Wealth must be accounted for. We must save Kenya!”

Unmask maize scandal thieves

The latest move by Dr Mutua comes two days after he vowed to name prominent government officials who benefited from the Sh1.9 billion maize scandal.

Dr Mutua, who spoke over the weekend during a tree planting ceremony at Kalama, Machakos town constituency, said he is waiting for a file that has details of the fraudulent scheme before he makes the names public.

“There are several prominent people who got Sh10 million, others got Sh100 million while others got Sh300 million. Big people in government, I have the list,” Mutua said.

“I’m waiting for the file so that we are able to tell wananchi ‘these are the big thieves of Kenya,” he added.

Mutua urged President Uhuru Kenyatta not to relent on his fight against corruption.

He asked him not to cast his net far saying perpetrators of grand corruption were government operatives.

“I believe [President] Uhuru Kenyatta has the names too. And those names will soon be known and the rest of the country will know who the thieves are,” he said.
