Deputy President William Ruto has declared that he would go back to preaching when he is finished with current occupation.

Dr Ruto has been open about his passion for the church and church projects. He has always alluded to his past tenure as Chairman of the University of Nairobi Christian Union.

"When I am done doing what I am doing at the moment, I will go back to being an evangelist," he stated on Thursday.

Speaking from Kasarani Gymnasium, Dr Ruto lauded the church for efforts that have helped various communities.

"We commend the Church for its far-reaching impact in promoting education and health; ministering God's word and creating a better place for us to live in peace, unity and harmony.

"The Bible teaches us that the people who know God will be strong and do great exploits," DP Ruto added.

DP Ruto is also a great supporter of church projects as he makes generous donations whenever he visits a church.

The donations have in the past been a bone of contention with church leaders fighting over them.

He has also defended the contributions insisting that it is the only way he propagates the Gospel given that he is the deputy president.

"If not a deputy president, I would be an evangelist.

"I know there are charges against me for helping Christians in churches. I plead guilty to the charges so there is no requirement of witnesses. I am not ashamed of my faith," he stated during a past church service in Nyeri County.
