Wiper withdraws from NASA’s resistance plan

The party announced the decision after holding a top-level meeting.

In a meeting chaired by Makueni governor Kivutha Kibwana, the party resolved to stay off mass protests scheduled for next week.

Kibwana stated that the Kalonzo Musyoka-led party would stay off all protests until the KCSE exams have been completed.

The Wiper decision was in sharp contrast to an earlier statement from NASA CEO Norman Magaya who indicated that the demonstrations would continue on Monday.

The meeting held in Athi River also discussed the 2022 political strategy in the event that the Supreme Court upholds Uhuru Kenyatta’s win in the repeat election.

The party is keen on having Musyoka on the NASA ticket after he supported ODM’s Raila Odinga in the 2013 and 2017 presidential bids.

The ODM party leader has stated that he would not be retiring any time soon while ANC has endorsed its party leader Musalia Mudavadi as its 2022 presidential candidate.
