ODM slaps Aisha Jumwa with 7-day ultimatum after disrespecting Raila

Jumwa to face the music...

In a letter seen by Pulselive.co.ke, Jumwa was asked to show reason why action should not be taken against her for criticising Odinga over the recent handshake with President Uhuru Kenyatta.

She is also accused of uttering words deemed disprectful to the Orange party.

"On 15 July 2018 you are quoted by several media outlets as uttering the following words.

"In the same meeting, you are quoted to have said . These pronouncements are tantamount to a declaration of termination of or intention to terminate your membership of the Party," the letter signed by ODM chairman John Mbadi reads in part.

From the letter it appears Jumwa, who has publicly declared her support for Deputy President William Ruto in the 2022 Presidential race, has not been attending ODM Parliamentary Group meetings.

Mr. Mbadi further warned the Malindi MP that her actions and utterances amount to gross misconduct of the Party and its leadership.

Ms. Jumwa is expected to respond to the letter within seven days to defend her position.

"It is therefore demanded of you to within seven days show cause why on the basis of such misconduct and disrespect a disciplinary action should not be taken against you in accordance with Article 8.4 of the ODM Constitution," Mbadi added.

Also, Msambweni MP Suleiman Dori was hit with the same warning letter following his utterances in which he was quoted saying he regrets campaigning for Mr Odinga during the 2017 General election.

On his part, Dori is accused of criticising Odinga for purportedly betraying the Coast people.

"You have been quoted by several media houses as declaring in public forums that the coastal people have been betrayed by Raila Odinga and ODM and should look elsewhere to realize some development.

"You are further quoted as having said you regret having campaigned for Raila and NASA. These pronouncements are tantamount to termination or intention of termination of your membership of the ODM party," Dori was told.
