While as the Head of State's directive appeared apolitical, it is likely to adversely affect the Wiper Leader as he has been accused of illegally acquiring a 4500-acre farm in Yatta from the NYS.
Musyoka was allocated the initial 4000 acres during President Daniel arap Moi's regime where he served as a powerful Cabinet Minister.

In November 2016, Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua went on record at the Senate's Public Accounts and Investments Committee and accused Musyoka of irregularly taking over a further 500 acres.
Mutua told the Senate that Wiper Party Leader had used his position as Vice President in the Grand Coalition government to allocate himself more land that belonged to the NYS and was adjacent to Musyoka's Yatta farm.
The NASA deputy leader did not issue a formal response before the senate but defended himself through the media, stating that he had bought the land from the NYS.
President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to write to the National Lands Commission to make his directive official.
"Land previously owned by NYS will be returned to the institution for active programmed that will help the youth in employment. The State will put all resources at its disposal to ensure that NYS succeeds in this," Kenyatta stated on Thursday.
