CJ Maraga’s final warning to IEBC

Maraga said the Supreme Court will demand an explanation following....

Maraga warned that the court’s orders granting access to the IEBC servers must be followed after NASA leader Raila Odinga’s lawyers accused the commission of frustrating them.

Raila’s lawyer Paul Mwangi complained that they had been “stonewalled” and that they had not been allowed the read-only access as directed by the Supreme Court on Monday morning ruling.

He accused IEBC of giving printed logs instead of 'read only' server access as ordered by the court.

NASA’s lead counsel James Orengo said that there was "substantial noncompliance" by IEBC on the server access order.

However, IEBC on its part refuted the claims saying that they they had complied with orders as framed by the Supreme Court.

IEBC lawyer Paul Muite, however, argued that the process would take long since the commission’s servers were in Europe.

"These servers are in Europe and we have to wait for them to start working. They have to set up access windows. The exercise is going on," Muite disclosed.

Mr Muite further said they experienced logistical issues but that they were resolved.

Mr Maraga has directed the IEBC lawyers to ask their clients to comply with the law saying that they will demand an explanation from anyone who will not comply.

"Even if your clients are in Europe, wake them up and comply with the orders. If they are asleep, wake them up," Maraga demanded.
