Renowned political analyst Prof Mutahi Ngunyi has now made a new prediction on the political relationship between President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto.
According to Ngunyi, Kenyatta was crafting a legacy term and would therefore be more ruthless and very unpredictable.
He gave the example of the President’s surprise nomination of 9 Cabinet Secretaries which was done without the head of state informing most of his close allies.
The political analyst further explained that Ruto’s absence from the State House state address was the beginning of a new political system that would allow him to concentrate on his 2022 bid.
The professor of political science noted that for the DP to become President, he needed to be freed from some of his usual duties.
“Ruto will become President in 2022. But to become President, Uhuru must relieve him of unnecessary duties like attending press conferences at State House with him. This process began on Friday.
“The next GEMA president after Uhuru, will not be for the next twenty years. But for this to happen, Ruto must drive national reconciliation agenda. He cannot unite the nation by performing unnecessary duties like standing behind the President in Press conferences,” Ngunyi stated.
Through his weekly video column, the analyst famed for his tyranny of numbers prediction, stated that Kenyatta was likely to be very ruthless in achieving his legacy goals given that the President would not be seeking re-election.
