Ruto's rare moment of confession

Deputy President William Ruto has now stated that is ready to work with ODM leader Raila Odinga as part of the building bridges narrative championed by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Ruto stated that things have changed after Odinga's handshake with President Kenyatta, but added that he did not have a problem with the deal.

"Walikuwa wanasema mambo yabadilika na sisi tukasema tuko pamoja. Sasa mambo ni kweli imebadilika na tuko pamoja, kwani iko shida gani (They campaigned on the slogan of change while our slogan was on unity. Now its true things have changed and we are now united, we have no problem with that)," Ruto stated.

The Deputy Speaking was speaking in Nyamira where he was supervising various national government.

The relationship between Ruto and Kenyatta has deteriorated in recent months, with the DP reportedly being sidelined in favour of Odinga.

The situation has not been helped by President Kenyatta's reference to his deputy in rather unsavoury terms that have angered the Ruto camp.

In an indirect reference to the matter, the DP affirmed that he was the principal assistant to the President and would continue helping the head of state carry out his duties in accordance with the constitution.
