IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati has issued a response after three commissioners at the electoral commission resigned.

Chebukati stated that he was yet to receive the formal communication confirming the resignation of commissioners Connie Nkatha Maina, Margaret Mwachanya, and Paul Kugat.

He added that upon receipt of the formal letters, IEBC would respond with a comprehensive statement.

On Monday morning, three commissioners issued a press statement where the accused Chebukati of being a weak leader who had caused divisions at the IEBC.

"Instead, under the leadership, the Commission boardroom has become a venue for peddling misinformation, grounds for brewing mistrust, and a space for scrambling for and chasing individual glory and credit," the commissioners said in a statement.

The resignations came at a time when Chebukati had called a crisis meeting to resolve issues affecting the electoral body after IEBC CEO Ezra Chiloba was sent on a 3-month compulsory leave.
