Raila has been giving me better ideas – President Uhuru Kenyatta explains arrangement with former Prime Minister

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday defended his close relationship with AU high Representative for Infrastructure Raila Odinga, saying he had been getting better ideas from the former Prime Minister.

President Kenyatta said he and Odinga had been discussing development programmes for Kenya and the region and ruled out politics out of the arrangement.

We have been talking about the issues that affect our people. In infranstrure, what do we need to do? On health what is the way forward. This issue of digitizing our records, what is is it about?

We talk and we agree this is what we need to do, and he also gives me ideas that enhance something and make it better, what is wrong with that?” Kenyatta stated.

In an indirect reference to his deputy William Ruto, President Kenyatta said Odinga was not out to wreck Jubilee but to to enhance the welfare of the people.

Ruto had last week said he had personal reservations about the ODM leader’s relationship with the President – arguing that Odinga had a record of breaking up political parties.

The DP went further to say that the former Prime Minister had compromised some Jubilee MPs who previously belonged to ODM.

What has Raila got to do with breaking Jubilee? Do you know from the first time we met, we have never mentioned the word Jubilee or ODM. We talk about Kenya and Africa,” Kenyatta added.
