Raila in trouble with DCI

Raila Odinga's Range Rover among 18 luxury cars impounded by DCI detectives

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga is among 18 car owners whose vehicles have been confiscated by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives.

Mr Odinga's Range Rover, KCS 002D, is among vehicles said to have been fraudulently registered, stolen or illegally in the country having not paid duty at the port.

DCI detectives outlined that it could not be established whether the vehicle used by the special AU envoy belongs to him or whether it was donated by his supporters.

Range Rover registered under a GK number plate

In a more confusing twist, a Range Rover registered under number plate KCC 241P belonging to Kirinyaga Woman Representative Purity Ngirici's husband was found to be i KRA's records as vehicle registration GKA702.

Others affected by the crackdown include Devolution CS Eugene Wamalwa, Igembe North MP Maoka Maore, Kuria West MP Mathias Robi, Embakasi West MP George Theuri and Starehe aspirant Steve Mbogo.

In recent times, KRA has busted a number of containers at the port with goods initially declared as household items that were found to be high-end vehicles.
