Late Eutychus Elvis Mwaura (Centre) daughter and son. Relief for family after father’s detained corpse is released for burial

A few days ago, Pulselive.co.ke highlighted a story of a family in Nakuru whose father’s corpse had been detained in the morgue for more than seven months, because of an unsettled hospital bill of Sh2.5 million.

Eutychus Elvis Mwaura passed on, on July 14, 2018 after he had received treatment for 10 months at the Nakuru War Memorial Hospital and the family had appealed for help from the public.

A source in the family has now confirmed to pulselive.co.ke that the hospital’s management reached an agreement and Mwaura’s body was released for burial days after Pulse Live highlighted the story.

The family member told this journalist that the father’s burial took place on Monday.

We came to an agreement with the hospital, the body was released and we had the burial today,” said the son.

Diabetes and hypertension

About a year and three months ago, Eutychus Elvis Mwaura was diagnosed with diabetes and hypertension and was admitted at the Nakuru Nursing Home. He was later on transferred to Nakuru War Memorial Hospital after health workers in public hospitals went on strike and he needed urgent medical attention.

Mwaura continued receiving treatment at the hospital for 10 months before he died in July last year.
