Safaricom takes lead in BrighterMonday best 100 Kenya companies to work for in 2019

A new survey by BrighterMonday has unveiled Kenya's best 100 companies to work for in 2019.

Safaricom PLC has managed to retain position one in the new survey with East African Breweries Ltd (EABL), the United Nations, Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) and Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) completing the top five list.

Respondents in the survey were the general public, which involved job seekers and employees already working in various Kenyan companies.

In order of rank, the other top 25 companies were found to be: Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) at number six, KenGen, PWC, Coca Cola, Kenya Airways, Deloitte, Unilever, Kenya Power, Equity Bank, British American Tobacco, Centum, Google, Kenya Ports Authority (KPA), Airtel, Britam Holdings, Central Bank of Kenya (CBK), Nation Media Group, Royal Media Services, BIDCO Africa and Toyota respectively.

What Makes a Good Company

According to the BrighterMonday report, a majority are looking for five top traits that make a good company to join.

In order of importance they are: Strong relatable company values and goals, open effective management, flexible hours, transparent performance management and the health programs offered.

For Kenyan employees, what makes a good employer depends on a competitive pay package, job security, career growth, a financially stable company and welfare benefits in order of significance.

Other factors that respondents listed as elements of a good company are a company affiliated with talent, a conducive work environment, staff support, team work and performance incentives.
