Sarah Wairimu, wife of the late Tob Cohen, has been released on a sh2 million cash bail.

As a condition to her freedom, Wairimu was barred from accessing any property owned by her late husband and to cease from interfering with witnesses.

The family of the late Cohen, together with the DPP had opposed Wairimu's release on bail - arguing she did not have a permanent abode and was likely to skip court.

They told the court that her home had already been declared a crime scene and her late husband, who she was dependent on, disinherited her in his will.

Justice Stella Mutuku, however, agreed with the defense counsel, Philip Murgor that the accused's passport was held by police and could not be a flight risk.

Murgor told the court that his client was a businesswoman who had fully complied with the authorities, and that she would be supported by her family if granted bail.

Cohen's estranged wife has been in state custody from August 28th when she was arrested in connection with Cohen's mysterious disappearance.

On September 13th the dutch tycoon's body was found hidden in a septic tank in the couple's matrimonial home in Lower Kabete.

Wairimu has since been held at the Lang'ata Women's Prison but has on a number of occasions been allowed to attend to her husband's post-mortem and subsequent burial.
