Scores escape death narrowly in freak accident involving Joy Kenya bus

Several people escaped death narrowly after a bus they had boarded was involved in a freak accident on Saturday.

Media reports indicate that the Joy Kenya bus that plies the Nairobi-Thika route was full of passengers at the time of the accident.

It remains unclear what caused the accident with reports indicating that the speeding bus lost control and landed in a ditch near THIWASCO.

A witness who arrived at the scene of the accident shortly after the accident confirmed to Pulselive.co.ke that no major injuries were reported.

Frightened passengers, reeling from the shock could be seen escaping from the windows.

Investigations have been launched to establish the cause of the accident.

The bus company has been on the spot with many passengers plying the route complaining that they are recklessly driven and the crew are rude to passengers.

On 29 August 2019, a Joy Kenya bus overturned at Bonjour roundabout on Kenyatta highway in Thika, leaving 15 people injured.

In April of the same year, two people died on the spot while 21 others sustained serious injurie after a Joy Kenya bus was involved in an accident at Maara River bridge.

The same bus company was on the spot on 28 January 2018 after one of its buses overturned along Thika road at the Ruiru service lane.
