Tragedy struck early Tuesday morning when bus and a truck collided at Kambu area on the Mombasa-Nairobi highway.

At least 24 people are feared dead in the grisly accident.

The injured were rushed to Makindu hospital.

According to police reports, the bus which was heading to Mombasa was overtaking several vehicles when it collided with the truck.

The bus, belonging to Buscar company, was headed to Mombasa from Nairobi when the crash happened.

The area has in recent times been identified as a black spot.

Last month, two people were killed and three others sustained serious injuries in an accident involving a tanker and a personal vehicle in the same area.
