President Uhuru Kenyatta has left the country for Ethiopia moments after announcing a reshuffle in his cabinet.

A statement from State House indicated that the Head of State was in Ethiopia to attend a business forum.

The Head of State met with Ethiopia's Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali where the two will engage in talks on how to expand business ties between our two nations.

State House' statement read: "The visit aims to bolster economic and social ties between Kenya and Ethiopia and foster co-operation in areas of mutual interest."

His visit to Ethiopia comes barely four hours after the President issued Executive Order No.3 of 2019 announcing a reshuffle in his Cabinet.

In the changes announced on Friday morning, Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa was fired and replaced by his Education counterpart Amina Mohamed.

Knec Chairman George Magoha will take over the Education docket if cleared by Parliament.

"In accordance with Article 155 of the Constitution, the appointment of Mrs Fatuma Hirsi, as a Principal Secretary has been vacated," a statement sent to newsrooms read.

President Kenyatta said the changes were aimed at equipping and orientating his government in its implementation of the Big Four Agenda— housing, affordable healthcare for all, manufacturing and food security.
