Through its verified Twitter handle, KBC confirmed that the journalist had succumbed to a short illness while on assignment in Mombasa.
Badi's brother, Hafidh, who informed the media on the icon's passing disclosed that he had spent time with his brother before he passed away.
According to Hafidh, the brothers had shared a meal in the afternoon and the late Badi had retired to his room for the evening.
The 67-year-old Swahili broadcaster died in his sleep.
Mr Muhsin had travelled to Mombasa to interview celebrated home chef and mother to journalist Nimrod Taabu, Mama Alice Taabu.
Mama Alice used to host a popular cooking show on KBC in the 90s and has since developed a recipe book titled "Mke Nyumbani".
KBC Managing Director Dr Naim Bilal noted that Badi's death had been shocking to learn.
Bilal remembered Muhsin as a disciplined journalist who proved his worth when he returned to KBC in June.
Badi's remains were set to be transported to Nairobi on Friday night ahead of his burial at Kariokor on Saturday.
