Uhuru Makes Major Announcement on October 26 Election

The head of state spoke a day after one of the IEBC commissioners resigned.

Kenyatta announced that the Country would have a national day of prayer on October 22 (coming Sunday) in preparation for the repeat presidential poll next week on Thursday.

The head of state called the press conference a day after the resignation of former IEBC commissioner Roselyn Akombe who is currently in New York where she has gone into exile.

While the President was expected to address the matter, he kept off any issues of politics and instead focused on the deliberations he had held with religious leaders.

"Let us begin by thanking God for seeing us this far, asking God's blessings for our nation. We cannot let that which is fleeting sully that which is permanent.

"Let's re-dedicate our nation to Him. Let us pray for all our leaders that they may be granted wisdom and to love peace," the President remarked.
