Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has hinted on vying for the County’s gubernatorial seat as an independent candidate after the embarrassing defeat during the Jubilee nominations.

Kabogo, who was making his first address after he lost to Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu, mentioned that his foot soldiers were compelling him to run for the seat.

However, the Kiambu boss divulged he was still weighing his options.

"My supporters have been pushing me to vie, lakini ningali natulia,niko holiday ya wiki moja, I will clear all that next week," Kabogo was quoted by the Nation.

He intimated this while speaking to journalists after inspecting the progress of the ongoing construction of a reproductive health unit at Thika Level Five Hospital.

Earlier, Kabogo had conceded to defeat and disclosed that he would be retreating to his business.

During the primaries, the Governor garnered 69,916 votes while Waititu’s got a whopping 358,604 votes.

Kabogo was among other high-profile Jubilee politicians who lost during the primaries.

Despite the loss, President Uhuru Kenyatta, who is also Jubilee Party leader, assured the losers that they will have a place in the Jubilee Government.

“We are not leaving anyone behind. We congratulate those who won and ask them to listen to the wishes of the people. To those who lost, we want them to know that we are not abandoning them. Our party does not have a policy of use and abandon,” Mr. Kenyatta said.
