Former Cabinet Minister Ochillo Ayacko is expected to fly the ODM flag in the forthcoming by-election to elect a new senator for Migori.

Ayacko on Monday won the electoral college vote for Migori senator, with the ODM National Executive Council expected to present him as their candidate on July 26.

The orange party was initially expected to hold nominations to pick the strongest candidate but the idea was not adopted for fear it would cause an internal fall out.

The party then adopted an electoral college inspired by the US Presidential election model where Migori ODM elected MCAs, MPs, Women Rep, Governor and Deputy Governor form an college for purposes of electing the party’s senatorial candidate.

The seat fell vacant after the death of former senator Ben Okello.
