Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko has offered a cash reward of Sh500, 000 to any police who would shoot and kill land grabbers in the posh Karen suburbs.

On Sunday, the Senator posted on his Facebook wall a one minute clip apparently showing a group of men pulling down a black gate and clearing a hedge acting as a perimeter wall of a house on the Karen Warai Road.

“They are taking advantage of my absence from Nairobi. I am appealing to any police officers around that area that these goons should be shot dead and in case of any repercussions I will stand surety and give a reward of Sh500, 000 to any police officer who shoot and kill any of these shameless goons,” Sonko posted.

The Senator had accompanied President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto on a tour across the Coast region.

One of his followers, Oscar Kwama wrote “You just confirmed the world's greatest fears. Kenya leads in extra judicial executions. You are one of the people who pay the police huge money to do it”.

Sonko replied: “Yes I will even do it myself if I find any goon destroying any family property under the same circumstances. This nonsense must come to an end keep politics aside. I am mandated by the constitution to safeguard the interests of all the people i serve. The rich and the poor.”

They were later arrested by police officers and detained at Karen Police Station but were later set free for lack of evidence.
